The horror movie Obsession is everyone’s new hyperfixation, and if you watched it, you are probably eager to learn everything you can about its star: Inde Navarrette. But eagle-eyed TV watchers probably know the Mexican-Australian actress from another TV drama, one following a very famous superhero.
Yes, that’s right. Before Obsession made her a breakout star, 25-year-old Navarrette was better known for playing Sarah Cushing (né Cortez), the daughter of Lana Lang and love interest of Jordan Kent on Superman & Lois.
Navarrette was born in Tucson, Arizona, to an Australian mother and a Mexican father. Navarette spent most of her younger years in Visalia, California, before relocating to Los Angeles. Her first big role was on the sitcom Denton’s Death Date, where she played Veronica. After that, she appeared in Season 4 of the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why as Estela de la Cruz.
Up next, she is set to star in the thriller film Invertigo.
In Obsession, a supernatural horror film written and directed by Curry Baker, Navarrette plays Nikki, the childhood friend of Bear (Michael Johnston), a music store employee who buys a supernatural toy that grants him a wish: for Nikki to fall in love with him. The consequences are pretty horrifying, with Nikki being portrayed as a villain and victim.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 and was released in the US on May 15, 2026 to overwhelmingly positive reviews. Not just that, it’s become one of the breakout hits of the year after earning 21 times its budget during opening weekend. The indie movie reportedly cost $750,000 to $1 million to make and has so far raised around $28 million worldwide.
Obsession is now in theaters.
