Fans love to see the lives of their faves told in a biopic. Sometimes the casting is perfect and sometimes the casting leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouths. The upcoming Madonna biopic, announced in 2020, has fans buzzing and her daughter Lourdes Leon is in the running to play the Queen of Pop.

Leon, a trained actor, is in the running to play her mom in what is being called a “powerful” depiction of the iconic singer’s life. According to EW, Julia Fox, Kanye West’s new girlfriend, is said to be in the running to play Debi Mazar, Madonna’s best friend.

A source close to the biopic told The Mirror that the movie will open in the ‘70s depicting a young Madonna struggling to get her career off the ground.

“It’s going to be a powerful and true depiction of Madonna’s life – think Bohemian Rhapsody, not Mamma Mia!,” the source told The Mirror.

Madonna recently spoke about previous attempts to tell her life story. She called them “hideous superficial crap” written by men. The upcoming biopic will be a real and unapologetic look at the superstar’s life.

Madonna teamed up with Diablo Cody, the writer of Juno and Jennifer’s Body, to write the first script. The final version of the script has reportedly been written with Erin Wilson, who co-wrote The Girl on the Train, according to Pink News.

Tbh, Lourdes Leon would be a perfect choice to play Madonna. Not only would she understand the small nuances of her mother’s behavior, and take part in something truly iconic, but the model also has a striking resemblance to her mother when she was younger.
