The day after Karol G won a Latin Grammy for Best Reggaeton Performance for her song “Bichota,” the singer celebrated her victory on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and revealed a few surprises she has in store for her career.

“I have a lot of things that I want to do in my life,” she said. “I want to push myself as a woman and see how far I can go in everything.”

One of the surprises Karol G shared with Fallon and her fans is that she will make her acting debut on an upcoming Netflix series, which she will start shooting in January 2022. Although details are scarce, Karol G said the project is not autobiographical and that she would be portraying a character.

“I’m going to act,” she said. “I have a surprise for my people in January. I’m going to start shooting a series for Netflix. It’s not about my life. I’m acting. I have a character, so I’m preparing myself for that.”

Fellow reggaeton artist Bad Bunny made his Netflix debut earlier this month on the third and final season of Narcos: Mexico, so maybe Netflix is seeking out talented and popular Latine musicians to fill in some key roles on a few TV series.

Currently, Karol G is on her Bichota Tour, which runs through the end of January 2022. “Bichota” is a single from her third studio album, 2020’s KG0516. The song peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart late last year.
