“The heist comes to an end,” is how Netflix recently broke the news that its Spanish-language series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) will do one more round on its streaming platform.

The award-winning crime drama has been renewed for a fifth and final season, much to the delight of the legions of international fans it has earned since making its debut in 2017.

According to Entertainment Weekly, production on the fifth season began last week in Denmark and will continue in Spain and Portugal. Right now, it is unknown if the ongoing pandemic will affect the series in any way.

“We are moving from a chess game—a mere intellectual strategy—to a war strategy: attack and contention,” series creator Alex Pina told EW, referring to how the Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) team would attempt to avenge the death of their fellow robber Nairobi (Alba Flores).

With the Season 4 finale ending on such a huge cliffhanger, it was almost impossible to think Netflix would not continue the series and give the show’s viewers some closure.

EW also confirmed that actors Miguel Ángel Silvestre (Sense8) and Patrick Criado (Mar de Plástico) will join the cast in the final season.

“Happy to announce that I will be in the last season of Money Heist!” Criado wrote on his Instagram account. “See you soon, my friends!”
