The upcoming National Treasure series on Disney+ finally has an official title.

National Treasure: Edge of History will be the franchise’s next chapter. Although details about the plot are still unknown, there’s a good chance that a lot more will be revealed later this month when the cast of the new show makes an appearance at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con.

What is known about the new series is that it will be led by a Latina. Actress Lisette Olivera will star as Jess Morales, a DACA recipient and treasure hunter who is searching for answers about her family’s history. In 2020, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said in comparison to the National Treasure films, the new series would be “the same concept but a young cast.”

On social media, Olivera dropped a quick message about the upcoming series. “The time has come,” she wrote.

Joining Olivera in the cast, who will also be at Comic-Con this year, are Jake Austin Walker, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Zuri Reed, and Lyndon Smith. Executive producers Cormac and Marianne Wibberley will also be in attendance to discuss the new series.

The National Treasure franchise began in 2004 with the original film starring Nicholas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian and amateur cryptographer who goes on a quest to steal the Declaration of Independence, which holds the key to a hidden treasure. The film grossed $347 million worldwide and a sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, was released in 2007.
