Sasha Calle is thrilled that Henry Cavill is happy with her portrayal of Supergirl in the upcoming movie The Flash. Calle recently told Entertainment Weekly that she spoke to Cavill after she shot the movie and that he gave her a thumbs up.

“I met him actually after the movie was done, months later,” Calle told EW. “I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man – Our Man of Steel! He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.”

Cavill played Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2017’s Justice League, which was also released as Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021 as a director’s cut.

“I asked him, ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?’” Calle said. “And he was like, ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world, because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.”

Cavill also made a cameo appearance in the credits of the 2022 film Black Adam, which was supposed to serve as a jumping-off point for another Superman movie. However, Cavill said last December that he would not be returning as the superhero after all. The announcement came after James Gunn and Peter Safran took the lead at DC.

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone,” Cavill wrote on social media. “I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that.”

Earlier this year, Gunn sidestepped a question about whether they would bring Calle back to play Supergirl in future movies. When asked if Calle would fit into the new chapter of the DC Universe, Gunn said, “We’re figuring it all out.”

The Flash premieres at theaters nationwide on June 16, 2023.
