Note: The following article contains spoilers for the first episode of Abbott Elementary season 3.
The third season of Abbott Elementary premiered Wednesday night (February 7) and newcomer Josh Segarra is already getting straight A’s.
In the series, Segarra plays Manny, one of three Philadelphia school district representatives who come into the school to see how they can work with teachers to make their jobs easier. If Segarra looks familiar to you, the Puerto Rican actor has been in several series, including Chicago P.D., Orange Is the New Black, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
One of the first decisions Manny makes while on campus is asking second-grade teacher Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson) if she would like to be a part of a fellowship with the district, so she can make recommendations on how it can be improved.
When Manny and Janine first interact, there seems to be a lot of chemistry between them. Both of them enjoy reading the same educational tools, and both want to create positive changes for the kids. Manny’s inspiration comes from his mother, who was an educator for 20 years.
So, will Manny and Janine find romance in season 3? It’s possible, but it’s difficult to tell from just one episode. Plus, it’s evident that there are still feelings between Janine and fellow teacher Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams).
Nevertheless, some Abbott Elementary fans are hoping something might develop between Manny and Janine before the season ends.
Many dug Segarra’s clean-shaven look, even if they were surprised. There was swooning.
Some appreciated the wardrobe look. If it worked for Chris Evans, it can work for Josh Segarra.
Others were just as impressed with Segarra’s talent as an actor as much as they were by his physical appearance.
But there were some that were wary of Manny as he’s too good to be true.
Here’s hoping for a fulfilling school year for fans – and for everyone at Abbott Elementary.
New episodes of Abbott Elementary air every Wednesday night on ABC at 9 p.m. EST and stream on Hulu the following day.
