So, this year’s Emmys have come and gone — we sat through dozens of categories and overly long acceptance speeches to root for our cuates, Louis C.K. (winner, Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series) and Fred Armisen, who were the only Latinos nominated. There was one other Latino winner; when the cast of Modern Family won best comedy series, Sofia Vergara collected a statuette. But when she was asked to introduce Bruce Rosenblum, chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, she was essentially turned into a prop. Vergara stood on a pedestal that turned in circles as Rosenblum gave the typical boring speech, but most of the attention was focused on her butt. Check out the desmadre…
Twitter was not very happy about the sexist bit…

In fairness, Sofia Vergara always seems incredibly game for this stuff, but still. Just: no. #Emmys — Linda Holmes (@nprmonkeysee) August 26, 2014

Best overall
@lynd_says @Jezebel @SofiaVergara As a Latina, she actually would’ve only gotten paid 55% but you’re right, men don’t do that. — Dulce ‘Candy’ Ortiz (@DulceSweet) August 26, 2014

This year’s #theemmys: 2 #Latino nominees, 1 Latino winner, 1 #Latina on a rotisserie. Gracias, Academy! — Danette Chavez (@BonMotVivant) August 26, 2014
Vergara has already spoken out against critics; she told sources at Entertainment Weekly that she didn’t feel demeaned by the antics on stage saying, “I think its absolutely the opposite. It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself.”
Y ustedes, que creen? How did you feel about Sofia and the pedestal?
