Love is Blind: Argentina has given us a concerning first in the Love Is Blind franchise. First attempted murder charge conviction. Santiago Martínez, who costarred in the first season of the show in the South American country alongside Emily Ceco, has been convicted to 15 years in prison for the violence against his ex-wife.
The conviction was announced on March 25. Ceco’s lawyers had asked for 16 years in prison for Martínez, for being “…criminally responsible as the perpetrator of the offenses of illegal imprisonment, attempted homicide—aggravated by having occurred within a context of gender-based violence—and repeated minor bodily injury.”
“I feel like it’s finally over. I don’t want to celebrate, out of respect for the family on the other side, but at last, I will have peace. It’s going to be very difficult for me, but I will have peace. Justice has been served—for me, for Nicole, and for Carolina and Pamela, who were also victims of Santiago Martínez. The verdict is quite restorative. I have 15 years of peace ahead of me. I don’t know what will happen when he gets out, but I hope that justice will continue to stand by me,” Ceco stated in an interview with Puro Show (eltrece) after the sentence was announced.
Ceco first filed a complaint in February 2025, detailing the verbal and physical abuse she had received from Martínez. After her complaint, she sat down for an interview with a bruised and swollen left eye and bruises on her arm. During her time on the Netflix reality show, Ceco had revealed she was previously involved with a violent partner and spoke candidly about her fears of ever ending up in a situation like that again.
Martínez reportedly apologized to Ceco and her family during the hearing and told her he loved her. When the complaint was originally filed, Martínez had also apologized, calling what happened a “family fight.”
Emily Ceco and the law disagreed with him.
