If you’ve seen the 1997 drama-comedy Boogie Nights, you’ll know that actor Luis Guzmán (Wednesday) is no prude. When you’re playing a wannabe porn star, it’s kind of hard to be.
Guzmán will show how game he really is when it comes to salacious storytelling when he stars in Alone at Night, an erotic horror movie that also stars Pamela Anderson (Baywatch), Paris Hilton (House of Wax), and Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars).
Previously known by the title 18 & Over, Alone at Night follows a young woman named Vicky (Benson) who meets up at a friend’s remote cabin after experiencing a difficult breakup. While there, she gets online as a virtual model on an adults-only, live-streaming website for pay.
Things take a turn for the creepy, however, when the power goes out and Vicky realizes that there is a masked killer with a crowbar who wants her dead. Guzmán plays a character named JazzyLou. Based on the movie’s trailer, JazzyLou looks like one of Vicky’s online customers who enjoys watching her model in lingerie in front of the camera. “Now you’re talking,” JazzyLou says as he watches Vicky from his computer screen.
“With Alone at Night I wanted to make the kind of movie I would have snuck into as a teen,” director Jimmy Giannopoulos told Deadline. “Playing on the nostalgia of my favorite B-horror, we truly made a terrifyingly fun film.”
Alone at Night is scheduled to be released on January 20, 2023.
