Frankie Muniz is getting back into acting! On December 13, it was revealed that Malcolm in the Middle (2000-2006) is getting a revival to align with its 25th anniversary. The original actors confirmed to come back on the set include Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek. The highly-anticipated four-episode revival will stream on Disney+.

Muniz, of Irish, Italian, and Puerto Rican descent, left the television spotlight for car racing. But it looks like he’s going back to his roots to embrace acting again. “I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years,” Muniz said in an Instagram post. “Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now.”

In another clip, Cranston says, “It’s been 25 years since we premiered Malcolm in the Middle. I’m so excited… that I may have peed just a little.” Kaczmarek also shared her reaction to the news by saying, “What a delight that I get to yell at that kid again. We’re very, very excited about coming back together and seeing what this family has been up to.”

Although details are still under wraps, Disney+ unveiled that the revival will include four new episodes. The official logline reads, “Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.” Who will play Malcolm’s daughter?

It is also unclear if the family’s other sons Francis (played by Christopher Kennedy Masterson), Reese (played by Justin Berfield), and Dewey (played by Erik Per Sullivan) will come back to the series. However, Berfield reposted the social media announcement with an eyes emoji, signaling that he’s aware of the revival. Moreover, according to Deadline, Per Sullivan quit acting in 2010, so it’s unclear if he will be part of the episodes.

Malcolm in the Middle was a huge hit in Latin America, specifically in Mexico. A social media user, edgaralangallegos, commented: “The most successful show in the history of Mexican television. Probably they don’t even know that 😂.” Another Instagram user, zoeantonio, wrote: “Everyone thank Mexico for this, we literally have this show on the top #3 since disney+ launched 🇲🇽🔥.”

There’s no set premiere date for the revival.
