Just when we thought we couldn’t get more excited about Encanto, superstar Maluma and his velvety voice have joined the all-star Latine cast. The singer will voice the character of town heartthrob Mariano, the soon-to-be fiancé of Isabela, Mirabel’s sister.

Encanto is such a magical movie,” said Maluma in a statement. “I’m from Colombia and the story is about a Colombian family. I’m proud to be part of this beautiful story. It means so much to me as I’m very passionate about sharing my country’s cultural values and story globally.”

Encanto is the animated story of the Madrigal family. Their home is a magical and charming place filled with family members who have unique abilities. Well, every member except Mirabel (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz). Other Latine cast members included in Encanto are John Leguizamo, Wilmer Valderrama, and Diane Guererro (who is Mirabel’s sister Isabela).

On the musical side, Maluma has skyrocketed to fame in the last decade collecting Latin Grammys, Billboard awards, and VMA’s along the way. But, the boy from Medellín is putting acting front and center as of late. Not only is he behind the mic Encanto, but next year he will star alongside Jennifer Lopez in Marry Me. The two have the hit Pa’Ti + Lonely that was released last year.

In the meantime, Maluma is out on the road with his Papi Juancho Tour. For the rest of us, we’re going to have to wait to see his animated big-screen debut next month. Encanto is out Thanksgiving weekend.
