Netflix’s series The Lincoln Lawyer has an official release date: May 13. Directed by David E. Kelley, the show is based on the successful The Lincoln Lawyer novels written by Michael Connelly. The lead role of Mickey Haller will be portrayed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (6 Underground, The Magnificent 7) and the first look photos are giving us life.

The Lincoln Lawyer is the story of a Los Angeles-based attorney who runs his legal practice out of the trunk of his Lincoln Town Car, hence the name. The first season of the series is based on the second book in the series “The Brass Verdict.”

Viewers of the show will witness Mickey Haller traversing Los Angeles while setting himself up as an attorney in the expansive city. As previously reported by Remezcla, Connelly is excited to see Garcia-Rulfo play Haller.

“Manuel is the ideal Mickey Haller, as Haller follows in the footsteps of his attorney father with the showmanship of his Mexican movie star mother,” Connelly wrote in the original announcement. “Manuel brings a powerful dynamic and dimension to the role–one that aligns with the books and will give the show the opportunity to celebrate the Latinx heritage and roots of this Los Angeles-based story.”

According to the show’s logline, Haller is an iconoclastic idealist who is taking on big and small cases all around the City of Angels.

This is the second time that the Michael Connelly books have been adapted for the screen. In 2011, Matthew McConaughey played the role of Mickey Haller alongside Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillippe.

The first season will run for ten episodes and includes other famous actors, including Neve Campbell (Scream), Becki Newton (Ugly Betty), Jazz Raycole (Jericho), and Angus Sampson (Mad Max: Fury Road).

Who’s ready to see this story brought back to life by Netflix, especially with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as the lead?
