Jennifer Lopez doesn’t slow down. The Nuyorican impresario is currently on tour, planning a wedding to Alex Rodriguez, and launching a skin care line. She’s also prepping to promote her new movie, Hustlers. But Lopez is adding one more thing to her plate with the romantic comedy Marry Me.

Based on Bobby Crosby’s graphic novel, Marry Me follows a pop star, not unlike Lopez herself, who finds out her fiancé is cheating on her with her assistant. After having an epic meltdown onstage at Madison Square Garden, the pop star picks out a random math teacher to marry. The unlikely pair are forced to navigate their new relationship. Owen Wilson is set to play the math teacher Lopez’s character vows to marry, and in a recently announced bit of casting, Colombian singer and rapper Maluma will play Lopez’s cheating fiancé.

The Kat Coiro-directed project, being described as Notting Hill meets The Proposal, has shifted studios over the last few months. STX Entertainment – the home of Lopez’s previous project Second Act and upcoming Hustlers – was set to release the film. But with STX facing financial issues, the project has gone to Universal, where it will go into production in October.

While Lopez has branched out to different genres over the years, she has done a bit of comedy as of late. Regardless, we’re excited for her next project.

Marry Me doesn’t have a release date yet.
