Meet Colombian Fashion Designer Andrea Salazar, Contestant on ‘Making the Cut’ Season 2

Amazon’s original fashion reality show Making the Cut is returning this summer for its second season. The series recently announced the 10 contestants who will be competing for a chance to win $1 million to invest in their fashion business. One of the contestants is Andrea Salazar, who is originally from Medellín, Colombia.

Salazar was born and raised in Colombia and moved to England at the age of 17 where she developed her love for fashion design. After moving to Brazil for college, she returned to Colombia and co-founded the fashion brand SETA with her sister Eliana in 2014.

To expand the business, they later moved SETA to Miami in 2017 and have since participated in New York and Paris Fashion Weeks and were featured in Vogue and Elle magazines. Some of their clients include J Balvin, Maluma, Thalia and Karol G. Currently, SETA stores are established in Medellín and Bogota, Colombia and Miami and Doral, Florida.

When SETA made its debut at New York Fashion week in 2019, Andrea Salazar said, “Showing officially in fashion week means a lot to us. On a personal level, it is a validation of the years of hard work. On a professional level, it gives us a degree of international visibility that is really instrumental for the business.”

If international visibility in the fashion world is what Salazar is looking for, a TV series featuring supermodel Heidi Klum and fashion mentor Tim Gunn is probably a great place to start.

Season 2 of Making the Cut premieres on Amazon Prime July 16. To see more of Salazar’s fashion designs, visit her Instagram pages at @andreasalazarz and @seta_apparel.
