The new generation of Menudo is ready to make a name for themselves on America’s Got Talent. Or, perhaps, to introduce the name Menudo to a whole new generation. The new incarnation of the iconic boy band is set to perform in Spanish on the upcoming episode of the variety show airing Tuesday, July 2nd at 8pm ET on NBC.

The show, which is currently in the auditions stage, just returned for season 19 and has only aired four episodes so far this season. Terry Crews serves as the host, and Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara make up the judge’s panel.

Menudo is an iconic name when it comes to boy bands, particularly in the Latine community. Previous versions of the band included Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa. But there has also been a lot of controversy surrounding the band and founder Edgardo Diaz, including allegations of sexual assault which came to light in the HBO Max documentary Menudo: Forever Young.

The new version of Menudo, which is trying to distance itself from that part of the legacy,  includes Nicolas Calero (11), Gabriel Rossell (14), Andres Emilio (15), Alejandro Querales (16), and Ezra Gilmore (13). The group has already released a single, titled “Mi Amore” and performed at the 2023 iHeart Radio Fiesta Latina, but America’s Got Talent will be their first opportunity to perform before a big audience watching on TV.

There has been no confirmation regarding which song the group will be performing, though the group does have a few iconic songs from the Menudo playlist to pull from if they’d like to lean on the nostalgia a bit as they reintroduce themselves to the world.
