The show follows the lives of three first-generation Mexican Americans residing in Boyle Heights chasing the American dream while fighting gentrification from spreading across their beloved neighborhood. It was created by two incredible first-generation Mexican American writers and executive producers, Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez. America Ferrera is an executive producer of the show, which stars Karrie Martin, J.J. Soria, Carlos Santos, Joaquín Cosio, Julissa Calderon, Annie Gonzalez and more.

In celebration of the news, the cast and creators of Gentefied for a virtual table read on Wednesday May 20 on YouTube’s Netflix is a Joke channel.
