Comedian Paul Rodriguez is reportedly recovering after undergoing quadruple bypass surgery. The legendary comedian is back at home and is said to be resting comfortably.
A representative for the comedian told TMZ that “Paul wants everyone to know he is grateful for all the amazing care he has received and will be back better than ever very soon.”
Longtime friend Mel Garcia confirming the heart surgery on his instagram. Garcia posting a picture of him and Rodriguez. He said, “Just got off the phone with my longtime friend and brother, Paul Rodriguez. He has just went through a quadruple heart bypass surgery. My love and prayers are with him.”
One of the “Original Latin Kings of Comedy” has endured a few setbacks in the last few years. One of which was the loss of one of his homes. The comedian purchased a home for his late mother many years ago in the Central Valley of California. After her death the comedian kept the home. Late last year it burned down. “The fire happened in a refrigerator downstairs, apparently it caught fire with some cobwebs and it simmered,” Rodriguez told a newspaper in the Central Valley. “Within 30 seconds the floor caved in and the whole place exploded.”
Unfortunately, Rodriguez did not have insurance on the home. One of the main reasons for that brings us to his other major setback. Rodriguez has gone through what he describes as “economic hard times.” Having lost most of his money due over a 5 year period to a bad accountant.
His focus as of late was to rebuild his house and focus on his 40 acres of lemons. That in addition to starting a theater company for actors. In the meantime, all of that will have to take a back seat as the Latino stand-up comedian recovers from his heart surgery.
As for his future Rodriguez has several projects in various forms of production. One of which is a role in the upcoming Clifford the Big Red Dog movie due out this winter.
