Oscar Isaac is a RuPaul’s Drag Race stan and he has not been shy about his love for the show.
In a recent interview with Page Six, he leaned into this fandom in a way that, honestly, would be the most iconic full-circle moment. Not only is he a fan, but he also wants to be a guest judge and someone needs to get RuPaul on the phone to make this happen.
While talking to Page Six, they joked about Isaac putting out “feelers” to let the producers of Drag Race know “that he is eager to join the judging panel” for the show. He early responded with, “Well, this is a feeler now!”
When asked in the interview to pick a favorite queen, his response is the stuff of super fans. “Oh, man. Oh, Willow Pill — she won, she was so great,” Isaac told Page Six. “That’s a really hard one. There’s so many, there’s so many. I don’t think I could pick.”
Isaac has a long, documented history of uplifting and fangirling over RuPaul’s Drag Race. One of the sweetest moments was watching Isaac and Pedro Pascal completely sidelining a press junket to talk about their love for the franchise.
Isaac also went viral for walking into a gay bar in New York City to watch the finale of season 14 to celebrate Willow Pill being crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar. If that’s not love for the queens, what is?
RuPaul’s Drag Race has taken the world by storm in recent years. Not only is the show winning Emmys, but it is also giving a platform for queer people and performers to showcase their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent on the catwalk while validating their experiences and lives.
Aside from the U.S. franchise, there are currently 12 international franchises that bring LGBTQ+ culture into the homes of millions of people around the world, with upcoming Mexico and Brazil spinoffs in the works.
