Oscar-Nominated Director Claudia Llosa Talks Making Her First Film in English

After making two films in Peru including the Oscar-nominated La teta asustada, Lima native Claudia Llosa branched out to write and direct Aloft, her first film in English. Starring Jennifer Connelly and shot in Canada, it tells the story of a single mother who abandons her son in search of a mystical life as a healer, and her son’s search to find her years later.

We caught up with director Claudia Llosa and actress Jennifer Connelly at the New York premiere screening of Aloft during the Tribeca Film Festival. It turns out, Jennifer Connelly already knew some Spanish prior to working on the film.
