Pedro Pascal finally received his first Golden Globe nomination, as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced who will be vying for the 2024 awards on Monday, December 11th, 2023. The nominations were announced by Cedric “The Entertainer” and Wilmer Valderrama. Pascal, who starred as Joel Miller on the first season of The Last of Us was nominated in the category “Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama.”

Pascal was not the only performer from our communities to get a nod. Colman Domingo was nominated in the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama” category for his performance in Rustin. Selena Gomez, meanwhile, was nominated in the “Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy” category for Only Murders in the Building

Both Wish and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse were also nominated in the “Best Motion Picture, Animated” category. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was also nominated for “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.” Finally, Society of the Snow, technically a Spanish film, but with a fully Latine cast, was also nominated for “Best Picture, Non-English Language.”

Pascal’s nomination was received with jubilation by the internet, with responses that varied from happiness that he’s now an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee.

To people celebrating “little Pedro Pascal from Santiago Chile,” and how far he’s come.
