Pedro Pascal in Materialists

A24

Pedro Pascal is trying something different and throwing a little romance into the equation, or at least that’s what it looks like with Celine Song at the helm, a twist is always a possibility. Pascal is starring opposite Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans in the first trailer for Materialists, the follow-up film for Celine Song, whose debut film Past Lives was widely considered one of the best of 2023 and earned Song both a Best Picture nomination and an Original Screenplay nomination at the Academy Awards. Song wrote and directed Materialists

The romantic comedy follows Johnson’s character, Lucy, a successful New York matchmaker who finds herself torn between two men—the one she calls “a unicorn, an impossible fantasy,” a wealthy perfect match on paper (Pascal), and her very imperfect ex, a struggling actor-waiter, whom she runs into again at one event (Evans).

Pascal is certainly booked and busy. Materialists is not the only project in his upcoming schedule. It’s not even his next project. Pascal’s next project, Freaky Tales, is set to open in theaters on Friday, April 4. And if you’re a fan of the actor, get ready for quite an April, with the actor also set to reprise his role as Joel Miller on HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2, which is set to premiere on HBO on April 13.

Pascal will also appear as Reed Richards in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set for a July 25 release. The movie will introduce Marvel’s first family into the MCU and is expected to be the first of many appearances for the characters in the universe.
