An unofficial photo of actress Rachel Zegler off the set of her upcoming version of Snow White circulated online Friday (May 20), and the internet has some thoughts.

Zegler’s film is a live-action adaptation of the 1937 Disney film, based on the fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm. We’ll hold judgment on the photo ourselves until we see some actual production stills, but others online seemed to have a lot to say about the outfit Zegler was wearing. Most people were critical.

The dress looks very much like the one in the animated movie. It includes a long, yellow tulle skirt and a long-sleeved, blue corset top with puffy blue and red sleeves and a white stand-up collar.

“I’ve seen better costumes at the Disney Store,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another user expressed their sentiments over it looking unprofessionally designed.

Others called for Disney to start from scratch.

Some jokingly made their best guess from what store the costume was purchased.

When Zegler was announced as the actress who would play Snow White earlier this year, some detractors were upset that they hired a Latina for the role. Later, another issue with the film came up during pre-production when actor Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), who has a common form of dwarfism, criticized Disney for remaking a “f—ing backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.”

The live-action version of Snow White will be directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider‑Man) from a screenplay by Oscar-nominee Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) and Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary). Along with Rachel Zegler playing the titular princess role, actress Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) will portray the Evil Queen. The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
