A new limited series is coming to Apple TV+ and Ricky Martin is the latest name added to the project. Mrs. American Pie is set in the early 1970s and follows Maxine Simmons, played by Kristen Wiig, as she tries to join Palm Beach high society. Ricky Martin is joining the cast as Robert in the 10-part series based on a novel by Juliet McDaniel.

This is Martin’s first leading role on a television series and his first acting project since he portrayed Antonio D’Amico in Ryan Murphy’s critically-acclaimed FX drama The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Martin has been working to increase his acting portfolio and landing this role is proving to be a big step in making him a more rounded entertainer.

Fans are thrilled to see their fave reaching for new heights in his entertaining career. They have flooded his tweet announcing the role with so much love and support even though we have very little information about what exactly his role will entail besides being named Robert. Not to mention that he will be acting alongside some incredible performers.

People are stoked to see the full cast take the screen and tell the comedic story as only they could.

The series is being developed for Apple+ by Laura Dern, who is also starring in the period-piece limited series.

We are excited to see what Martin will bring to the cast as he continues to sharpen his acting chops. The entertainer made waves with his incredible work in The Assassination of Gianni Versace so fans remain eager to see him in a comedy.
