Through their Two For The Road Entertainment brand, Roselyn Sánchez (Fantasy Island) and husband and business partner Eric Winter (The Rookie), are executive producing a new comedy series for Fox. Joining Sánchez and Winter are Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Fox Entertainment.
According to Deadline, the series, El Patio, follows a group of mostly Latine neighbors who welcome a new Mexican American neighbor from Texas, Gabriel Suarez, into their apartment building in Miami. When Gabriel moves to the Florida coast, he doesn’t expect to experience so many cultural differences. The series will be written by Danny Fernandez (iCarly).
“Que felicidad,” Sánchez wrote on social media when news of the series broke. “Ask me how happy I am right now??!! Well… beyond. Honored to continue and expand my relationship with my familia at [Fox]. [Danny] LET’S GO!!!! Adore you… time to shine papi… [Eric] building with you is a dream.”
Fernandez met Sánchez on the set of the short-lived ABC series Grand Hotel, which led to their collaboration on El Patio. Sánchez is only executive producing the show. She will not star in the series. Her plate is already full with her role on Fantasy Island, which premiered its second season last week. She told Remezcla that she was happy with her career.
“I can look back and retire in peace,” Roselyn Sánchez said. “I make a living doing what I love. And now I have two beautiful, healthy, and incredible kids and an amazing solid relationship. I’m good.”
