Hollywood loves a good reboot and the recent trend in rebooted shows is proof that the trend is continuing. We also love to see a character brought back after a long absence and Sara Ramirez has Grey’s Anatomy fans intrigued.
In a recent interview with Glamour, the actor opened up about their interest in coming back to the longest-running show in Shondaland. Grey’s Anatomy has been on the air since 2005 and there seems to be no sign of the show slowing down. Ramirez joined the cast in 2006 as Dr. Callie Torres and played the role until 2016.
“Absolutely. [Laughs.] You didn’t expect that answer, did ya?” Ramirez told Glamour when asked if they would rejoin the show. “If the stars align in a way that makes it make sense, absolutely. I love my Grey’s Anatomy family. I’m so proud of them for introducing trans characters and nonbinary characters. It’s a beautiful universe that they’ve created over there, and I’m so grateful that I got to be a part of it.”
Ramirez’s appearance on the show was a rare moment of visibility for the LGBTQ+ community in the early 2000s. Their story arc coming out as a lesbian was a heartwarming moment on Grey’s Anatomy that fans still remember.
“I imagine that Callie is in New York. I’m not really sure what else is going on for Dr. Callie Torres, but I’m just as curious as the fans are,” Ramirez told Glamour. “I think it would be really exciting to see what Dr. Callie Torres is doing these days. So yeah, I’m definitely open to it. I would love to see it.”
Guess we all just have to wait and hope that Sara Ramirez will get to shine on Grey’s Anatomy once again.
