Yesterday, the NY Times published a list of 20 Directors to Watch – an assortment of rising, young international filmmakers that included three we have featured numerous times on Remezcla: Pablo Larraín, director of last year’s much acclaimed ‘No’; Matias Piñeiro, director of ‘Viola‘; and Sebastián Silva, whose recent film ‘Crystal Fairy‘ starred Michael Cera of Arrested Development fame. (Honorary mention: Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul, the man behind Oscar-winning ‘Searching for Sugar Man‘.)
While we were excited to see such a diverse group represented in the NY Times’ picks, the best part of the feature were the original short videos some of the directors – including Silva – created. Glad to see he took this project really seriously. p.s. Kristin Wiig when will you be my best friend?
