We can’t believe it’s taken this long but Gregory Nava’s Selena will finally be released (for the first time ever) on Blu-ray this year. Guess the Warner Archive Collection realized la Reina needed to be best enjoyed in high definition and with pristine high quality sound. So if you’ve been waiting to upgrade that special anniversary DVD of this Jennifer Lopez-starrer, now’s your chance. And to sweeten the deal, the upcoming release comes with both the original theatrical version as well as the extended cut (both in HD/Blu-ray).

If you’ve never seen the extended version — which includes longer snippets of “No Me Queda Más” that Selena sings after “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and “Si Una Vez” which she sings at her final concert, as well as more scenes from when Selena was a little girl at school — you’ll want to brace yourself for seeing your fave film in a whole new light.

Moreover, just as with the 10th anniversary edition, the upcoming Blu-ray comes with the short documentary Selena, Queen of Tejano, the Making of Selena: 10 Years Later feature as well as outtakes from the film and its OG theatrical trailer. In a year that’s going to also give us Selena fans a Netflix series, there’s no better time than the present to relish this classic Chicano film on the iconic singer from Texas that continues to steal our hearts. I mean, “Anything for Selenas,” am I right?

Selena will be available on Blu-ray starting May 19, 2020.
