There’s a new production company in Hollywood whose focus will be telling Latinx stories, and its Moisés Zamora and Bianca Quesada’s production company, Zone One. Zamora is best known as the creator, writer, and executive producer of Selena: The Series on Netflix. Prior to bringing Selena to the streaming giant, Quesada worked as a writer for both American Crime on ABC and Star on FOX.

Quesada has been the director of film and tv development with Live Nation most recently. Together, the duo will target stories of people of Afro-Latin, Indigenous, and Latin American descent.

Zone One already has a few projects ready to hit screens big and small. Zamora has co-written To Die Sane, a feature that centers around an ICE agent who loses it when one of his young immigrant detains commits suicide. While captivating enough, those around him start to become victims of el Cuco (the Latin American boogeyman).

On the smaller screen, Zone One is taking on the true story of Vanessa Guillen, the Fort Hood soldier who was murdered. The Whistleblower will center around attorney Natalie Khawam and her attempt to bring the culture of sexual harassment at the base to the forefront. The project is set up at HBO Max.

The new production company is also spinning the wheels on Off the Rims. The project is described as part Fast and Furious and part Atlanta. A pair of rule playing friends go against law in order to get a taste of the American dream. What results is an impressive car theft ring.

Quesada told THR, “We are traversing new narrative ground and are dedicated to ensuring that we meet the moment of today’s global culture.”
