The golden age of television is still going strong and gradually, over the last year or so, small-screen creators have been dipping into some Latino stories. We already told you about the network comedies in development by Gina Brillon, Chris Garcia, and Felipe Esparza, but now Endemol is adding some more serious fare to the mix. Deadline Hollywood reports that the production company behind The Biggest Loser, The Office, and Ugly Betty — together with Major TV — optioned the TV rights to Chris Perez‘s book To Selena With LoveWritten by Selena’s heartbroken husband a decade after her tragic, untimely death, it reveals previously unknown details of the Tejana star’s private life and marriage to Perez.

Chris Abrego, CEO of Endemol Shine North America said about the new series, “Chris Perez’s beautiful book To Selena With Love captured their amazing life together and will make for the perfect foundation for a TV series that our team is currently developing for both English and Spanish audiences worldwide.”

Details are fuzzy as the project is still in its infancy, but whether Endemol ends up with a television show or miniseries as its final product, we know that it will be produced with an eye towards bilingual viewers.
