Harmony Korine – the mind from which disturbing, creepy films like Kids and this Proenza Schouler short spring forth – is at it again with his newest venture, ‘Spring Breakers.’ The movie stars former Disney teeny bopper and Justin Bieber main thing Selena Gomez, and will apparently also heavily feature James Franco’s dreadlocks, among other actors.
Given Korine’s penchant for depicting youth gone terribly, terribly awry, this is clearly Gomez’s “I am a woman and an artist now, I show you by killing people and making the sex BAI DISNAY” power move. The story will follow four college-aged girls who get thrown in jail after robbing a fast food restaurant to fund their spring break trip. After getting bailed out by a drug and arms dealer (played by James Franco and his dreads), he convinces them to kill his rival.
The first sneak peek of the film doesn’t really give us a glimpse into any of these shenanigans, however it does capture the unbearable tedium that seems to fuel most terrifying teenage behavior (anyone remember vodka tampons??). Check it out:
