That galaxy far, far away, is not far enough that our communities can’t reach it. And the June issue of Vanity Fair, which features a cover story on the Star Wars TV universe on Disney+, is proof of that. Ewan McGregor, who is set to star in Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal, Andor’s Diego Luga, and Ahsoka’s Rosario Dawson are all featured, with a headline that reads “The Rebellion Will be Televised.”
Vanity Fair’s cover story also features behind-the-scenes information about the plans for the Star Wars franchise going forward. Next is, of course, Obi-Wan Kenobi, which premieres on May 27th. But sometime in late summer, Disney+ will also be home to Andor, the spy saga which focuses on the backstory of Rogue One’s hero, Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna.
Then there’s season 3 of The Mandalorian, which will once again, after the events of The Book of Boba Fett, bring us the adventure of Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin, alongside Grogu, or as he’s otherwise known, Baby Yoda. That is expected to hit the streaming service in late 2022 or early 2023.
But that’s not where it ends, with Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka, which will highlight the fan-favorite Clone Wars character set for next year, and The Acolyte, which will focus on the High Republic era, long before the Skywalkers, also in development.
Whatever you like, or who your favorites might be, there’s something for everyone coming to the Star Wars universe, and there’s a lot of representation in what we’re seeing. Long are the days of just Poe Dameron. Now the galaxy far, far away is filled with familiar, recognizable faces from our communities. And that makes us want to visit it even more.
