Prime Video’s new romantic comedy Red, White, and Royal Blue, based on Casey McQuiston’s New York Times best-selling novel, is set to star Taylor Zakhar Perez (The Kissing Booth 2 & 3, Minx) and Nicholas Galitzine (Cinderella, The Craft: Legacy). Perez is of Middle Eastern and Mexican descent.
The film is all about U.S. and British relations after Mexican-American character Alex Claremont-Diaz’s mother is elected President of the United States. Claremont-Diaz, portrayed by Perez, is immediately seen as a young royal in the White House. Though he’s young, handsome, and charismatic personality is a millennial dream come true, it quickly sours.
British and U.S. tabloids get a hold of a photo showing a tense altercation between Alex Claremont-Diaz and his counterpart, British royal Prince Henry, portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine, and an international incident ensues. Soon, heads of state are working to play damage control to save the relationship between the two allies.
As the two young men play nice, it soon turns into something more romantic and the two start to fall in love. The queer romance has the potential to upend Alex Claremont-Diaz’s mother’s re-election but, perhaps, love is something that can save the world.
“Meeting with and auditioning literally hundreds of actors over these past several months has been a painstaking labor of love that has brought us this diverse and extraordinary cast, led so fantastically by Nick [Galitzine] and Taylor [Zakhar Perez],” said Matthew López, director of Red, White, and Royal Blue. “I cannot wait for the fans of the book (and indeed for the world) to find out how remarkably gifted and perfect these two actors are for bringing Henry and Alex to life.”
