After years of waiting, it’s now confirmed that Tenoch Huerta Mejia will be returning to Marvel.
During a livestream today (March 26), Marvel has been revealing the cast of it’s upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. So far it’s been confirmed that Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Leticia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, and Florence Pugh will be appearing in the next Avengers film. Now we also know that Huerta, who played the anti-hero Namor, is also set to return.
The news of Huerta’s return to Marvel comes after the actor had sexual assault allegations brought against him in 2023, the year after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever came out. The allegations came from musician and activist María Elena Ríos. She called him a “sexual predator.”
Ríos made the allegations after Poder Prieto, an activist organization based in Mexico that fights against racism and classism, shared a year-old episode of the podcast El Feisbuk de la Malinche that featured her. Huerta is a spokesperson for Poder Prieto and Ríos is a former member.

Huerta released a statement in response and said, “A false and completely unsubstantiated accusation about me has spread like wildfire – and I cannot let it go unchallenged any longer.” Afterwards he exited the Netflix film Fiesta en la Madriguera and wasn’t included in promotional material for Pedro Paramo. He has seemingly remained under the radar since the allegations came to light.
Namor and the other superheroes return to Marvel sets the stage for an epic battle against the villanous Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, played by the iconic Robert Downey Jr.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters May 1, 2026.
