Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) will star in the sci-fi thriller Ash, which is set to be directed by the Grammy-winning musician and filmmaker Flying Lotus (artistic name of Steven Ellison), who is in his sophomore feature. The picture will have Neill Blomkamp (District 9) as the executive producer.

In Ash, a woman (Thompson) wakes up on a very far world and finds out that the crew of her space station has been slaughtered. She then has to decide if the man (Gordon-Levitt) sent to rescue her is worthy of being trusted. As the duo goes forward with the investigation, a troublesome chain of events makes him question her innocence.

Thompson has been having one of the best years of her expanding career as she reprised the Marvel role of Valkyrie in the recent Thor: Love and Thunder movie and played the antagonist in the fourth season of HBO’s sci-fi series Westworld. And fans seem to be excited for what’s to come for this new project.

The Emmy and BAFTA Award-nominated actress and producer was also seen in Rebecca Hall’s directorial debut movie Passing and Prime Video’s Sylvie’s Love, which Thompson also executive produced. Among her other credits, there are Selma, Annihilation, and Dear White People.

Tessa Thompson will next be seen in the boxing drama Creed III, which is in post-production and also stars Michael B. Jordan. Meanwhile, Thompson’s production company Viva Maude is developing projects such as Secret Lives of Church Ladies, Luster, and Who Fears Death.

Ash will have an original score composed by Flying Lotus, and the original screenplay was written by Jonni Remmler.
