The Chonga Girls are getting their own comedy series on CBS. Deadline is reporting the comedy duo made up of Mimi Davila and Laura Di Lorenzo will write, star, and co-executive produce a multi-camera comedy series for CBS. No date has yet been set for the project.

The show comes from Marlena Rodríguez, who will also serve as a writer and executive producer. Wilmer Valderrama, Kaitlin Saltzman, and Al Madrigal are also executive producers.

The Chonga Girls follows two childhood friends, Mimi and Laura, who move from Miami to Hollywood to pursue their dreams of becoming famous. But fame isn’t just about wishing for it, and the two soon find themselves at the least glamorous and yet most fame-adjacent job possible: the makeup counter for a department store right off the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Mimi Davila is a Cuban and Bulgarian comedian who, alongside her best friend Laura Di Lorenzo, jumped to fame after they released the viral video Chongalicious in 2007. She recently starred in the Julio Torres film Problemista. Di Lorenzo, on the other hand, is a Venezuelan comedian from Miami whose voice is instantly recognizable as the one behind the music of Selena Quintanilla in the Netflix series Selena: The Series. She also co-created the web series The Chonga Diaries.

Both Davila and Di Lorenzo shared the news on their respective Instagrams, with Davila saying, “Thank you to our fans, who from day one let us know this was much bigger than us! We have a lot of work to do but I can’t wait! This is only the beginning!”

Di Lorenzo made sure to thank her partner Davila on Instagram, saying, “I’m still breathless from this dream coming true after so many years of hard work with my best friend @mimiluisadavila.” She also added, “There’s a lot of work ahead of us, but we are so f**ing excited.”
