More than a year after late-night show Desus & Mero officially came to an end on Showtime, The Kid Mero is back with a new digital series and podcast – and he’s bringing an All-Star athlete along for the ride.
The Kid Mero is teaming up with retired NBA player Carmelo Anthony for 7PM in Brooklyn, a podcast that will feature the duo talking about basketball, Anthony’s 19-year NBA career and current events in sports and culture. Anthony was chosen third overall in the 2003 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets where he played for eight seasons. He played for seven seasons with the New York Knicks. He also had short stints with teams in Oklahoma City, Houston, Portland and with the Los Angeles Lakers.
7PM in Brooklyn will be produced by Wave Sports + Entertainment, the same company that produces popular sport-driven podcasts like New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, Podcast P with Paul George, and The Right Time with Bomani Jones.
“7PM in Brooklyn is not just a sports show,” Anthony said in a statement. “It’s an immersive journey that dives into the heart of the game and the rich culture that surrounds it. As co-host and executive producer, I’m looking forward to bringing a unique blend of storytelling to fans, merging our passion for sports and culture with our commitment to creating intentional, purpose-driven content.”
The Kid Mero added: “Growing up in the Bronx as a die-hard Knicks fan, basketball was everything. Getting a chance to use my 10-plus years of success in entertainment to cook up some magic with a legend like Melo and my guys at WSE is a no brainer.”
7PM in Brooklyn is set to premiere on December 7, 2023.
