Selena: The Series will continue with the second half of the coming-of-age drama on Netflix in less than three weeks. Fans are now getting a glimpse of the trailer for the final nine episodes.

Part 1 ended when the Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla (Christian Serratos), is heartbroken because her father Abraham (Ricardo Chavira) will not accept the idea of her falling in love with Chris Pérez (Jesse Posey), a member of her band.

The trailer begins with a somber reminder that the talented musician was taken from her family, friends and fans far too soon. A reporter asks, “When you’re gone, how do you want to be remembered?” The scene then cuts to black.

Now, on the brink of becoming a huge star, viewers get a glimpse of Selena’s next step in her journey through the music industry. “I wanna take you solo,” a manager tells her. Selena looks unsure but says yes.

She also says yes to Chris when the two decide to elope since her father is against the relationship. A scene features Selena in a wedding dress, something fans didn’t get to see in the 1997 movie when Jennifer López starred in the lead role.

The trailer continues with Selena trying to balance her career and personal life and making it all work seamlessly. She has a hard time telling her band that the record label isn’t interested in them playing on the English-language album. This leads up to the introduction of Yolanda Saldivar (Natasha Pérez), the president of Selena’s fan club and friend who killed the Tejano star in March 1995.

“No one can do everything alone,” Saldivar says after crumpling a photo of Selena in her hands. “Let me help.”

In the remaining scenes, Selena finally gives the reporter from the beginning of the trailer an answer about how she wants to be remembered. “Somebody who wanted to be a role model, the best daughter, the best sister, the best friend, the best wife,” she says. “I just want to be remembered as somebody who gave it her all.”

The second part of Selena: The Series premieres May 4, 2021.
