The most fabulous show on television is back this summer for a second season. Pose, which was created by Steven Canals, carries the imprint of Ryan Murphy, and boasts the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles in the history of United States television, looks to continue making history when it returns. Flash-forwarding to 1990, at the cusp of when ballroom culture and voguing were slowly going mainstream (courtesy of, among others, a certain Material Girl), Pose’s sophomore season will once again shuttle between the gritty world of New York City and the glittering world of the balls.
In a newly released trailer, fans get their first look at this Golden Globe-nominated FX drama as the new decade dawns over the House of Evangelista. In between glimpses at the drama and amazing ’90s fashion you’ll see on the show’s signature runway (think big shoulders and lots of pastels), you’ll catch Blanca (MJ Rodriguez) encouraging Angel (Indya Moore) to become a model, Pray Tell (Billy Porter) continuing to preach for unity within the community in the face of the AIDS crisis, and even Lil Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) offering kind words of advice to his fellow Evangelista fam. There’s plenty to ogle in the short En Vogue-scored trailer, but there’s one message the video and the show at large want to put forth: “Ballroom,” as Blanca puts it, “is not a trend; it’s about family!” Take a look at the teaser below.
Pose returns to FX on June 11, 2019.
