Univision will look very different starting next year in 2025. The platform has announced that Jorge Ramos is stepping away from his role as co-anchor of Noticiero Univision at the end of the year, following the 2024 United States presidential election.

Ramos has been with Univision for 40 years, 38 of those as co-anchor of Noticiero Univision.

“This is not a goodbye. I will continue to anchor Noticiero Univision until December, and then I will share my professional plans. I am deeply grateful for these four decades at Univision and very proud to be part of a team that has established solid leadership over the years,” Ramos said in a statement.

Daniel Coronell, President of Noticias Univision, added: “I want to express my respect and gratitude to Jorge Ramos and all he has done for Univision and the growing community we serve every day. Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, our talented team is well prepared to continue the tradition of journalistic excellence that has always defined Noticiero Univision.”

The comments to the announcement ran the gamut, with some people celebrating Ramos’ long and storied career, with comments that read: “Extraordinary communicator. A professional example. Success in what is to come” and “We will miss you, excellent professional, continue growing in your new success.”

But there were also those who didn’t seem all that sad to see Ramos’ go, with comments like: “Too sensationalist, he likes to be the center of attention in interviews”

And finally, there was the question, which Univision will now be forced to answer: “Who is going to replace him??? It will be hard to find someone to fill his shoes.” Since Jorge Ramos won’t be stepping away until the end of the year, we’ve got a while before we find out.
