Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) isn’t losing any sleep over the legal problems ex-president Donald Trump is going through these days. In fact, AOC no longer considers Trump, who spent most of his life in New York, and is part of the fabric of New York City.

“He don’t belong to us no more, OK?” AOC told The Daily Show guest host Jordan Klepper during a recent interview. “He’s not from Queens anymore. He’s a citizen of Mar-a-Lago at this point.”

Klepper was asking AOC how she felt New Yorkers treated Trump when he rolled into a New York City courthouse earlier this month where he was charged with 34 felony counts stemming from hush money payments he made to an adult film star and a former Playboy model. It was the first time in U.S. history that a former president had been criminally charged.

“I think they treated him like a Florida man,” AOC said, referencing a generic descriptor of a person who commits senseless crimes that usually make wacky headlines.

Speaking of wacky headlines, AOC doesn’t believe the bizarre story Trump shared with Fox News after he was released about the court staff crying on the day he was arrested and arraigned. It’s a story Trump has used numerous times in the past to describe the emotions he apparently triggers in people who are in his presence. A law enforcement source called Trump’s story “absolute BS.” AOC feels the same way.

“Maybe George Santos and Marjorie Taylor Greene were [crying], but not me,” she said. “Kick it back to LaGuardia [Airport].”

Klepper mentioned that the airport was actually in AOC’s district. She then mentioned that New York City’s largest jail, Rikers Island, is also part of her constituency.

“I have to go in every single day, watching people get treated far worse for doing far less [than Trump],” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said. “It’s like this red carpet that gets rolled out [for him]. I mean, if you hurt one person, you get 10 years in prison, but if you hurt millions of people, you get your name on a building.”
