The Sanderson sisters are back in the highly anticipated film Hocus Pocus 2, the sequel to the original 1993 Halloween classic starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as three witches resurrected from a centuries-long curse in Salem, Massachusetts.

Joining the wicked women for the new horror comedy is actress Belissa Escobedo who plays Izzy, one of the three high school students who awakens the sisters nearly 30 years later. Escobedo co-stars with Whitney Peak as Becca, and Lilia Buckingham as Cassie.

On Tuesday (June 28), Escobedo posted about how her love for Hocus Pocus has come full circle since she was a little kid.

“I’ve watched Hocus Pocus every single Halloween season, for as long as I can remember,” Belissa Escobedo posted on social media. “My mom’s house is covered in Sanderson Sisters merchandise from September-November each year. All of those times sitting in front of the TV in my Party City costume, watching the masterpiece that is Hocus Pocus, little wee Belissa never thought she’d be working alongside THE witches. Ever. Still can’t believe it.”

In the first teaser trailer for the movie, Izzy, Becca and Cassie are hanging out after school planning what to do that evening. “Birthday ritual, scary movie marathon…same as every year,” Becca says. They learn about a legend where a new witch gets special powers on her 16th birthday.

Before they realize what they have done, Izzy and Becca recite a spell and summon the Sanderson sisters back from the grave. “Lock up your children!” Midler’s popular character Winifred says.

It’s going to be another crazy Halloween night that, hopefully, includes a big musical number as memorable as “I Put a Spell on You.”

Hocus Pocus 2 debuts on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.
