Star Wars fans finally have a look at the full trailer for the upcoming Disney+ original series Andor, which released on Monday morning (August 1) — and there’s plenty to be excited about.
The series serves as a prequel to the 2016 Star Wars spin-off film Rogue One. It follows Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a spy and intelligence officer working for the Alliance, and takes place five years before the movie’s events.
“We know what Cassian is capable of,” Luna told the hosts of Good Morning America, where he debuted the new trailer. “We’re going to meet him when he doesn’t know he’s capable of that. We’re going to meet him when life is tough. [He’s] just a regular guy [who] suddenly has to become part of something bigger; has to become part of a community that rises.”
The Andor trailer begins with Cassian infiltrating the Empire as a boy. “To steal from the Empire, you just walk in like you belong,” a young Cassian says. “They’re so proud of themselves. So fat and satisfied. They can’t imagine that someone like me would ever get inside their house.”
Cassian then wears a gray uniform and blends in with the Imperial forces. The trailer then cuts to the new character Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), who explains to Cassian that he “needs all the heroes I can get.”
We also get to see a glimpse of Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) reprising his role as Clone Wars vet Saw Gerrera and actress Genevieve O’Reilly (The Young Victoria) returning as Mon Mothma, a senator who is playing politics between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance.
“This is what revolution looks like,” Adria Arjona’s (Father of the Bride) currently unnamed character says.
Andor will drop three episodes when it premieres on Disney+ on September 21.
