During an interview on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to promote their film Father of the Bride, Gloria Estefan and Andy Garcia played a game called “The Holy Veil of Questions” where Estefan revealed a juicy bit of information about the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show.

The halftime show, which featured Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, made the headlines earlier this month when Lopez’s documentary Halftime included a scene where she is talking about how little time she and Shakira had to perform.

“We have six f—ing minutes,” Lopez said in the doc. “We have 30 seconds of a song, and if we take a minute, that’s it; we’ve got five left. But there’s got to be certain songs that we sing, though. We have to have our singing moments. It’s not going to be a dance f—ing revue. We have to sing our message. This is the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl. It was the worst idea in the world.”

Cohen asked Estefan what she thought about Lopez’s comment in the Netflix documentary Halftime, and the music icon gave a diplomatic answer that praised both women for the incredible performance they were able to they had to put together in such a short time. “Could you do it, one person? Yes. But I think they wanted to throw a Miami and Latin extravaganza and they tried to pack in as much as possible and they killed it. That was an amazing show.”

He then asked her if she was asked to perform with them during the show, and Estefan confirmed that she had. “Imagine what J.Lo would’ve said if I would’ve been a third,” Estefan said, making the audience laugh. “I literally would’ve come out—‘Come on, shake your body’—out.”

Cohen then asked, “Were you asked, and you said no?” Gloria Estefan responded with: “Yeah. I mean, look, it’s their moment. They’re in a whole other thing. I’ve done a couple of Super Bowls. I didn’t want to go on a diet in December. It’s Christmas!”
