Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus) attended the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards Sunday night (February 26), not only as nominees but also as award presenters. Both earned some hearty laughs from the audience, and stole the show, when they stepped up to the microphone and projected some dark and moody energy.

Once behind the lectern, Plaza turns to Ortega and says, “I don’t know why they paired us up together.” The audience began to laugh, likely because Plaza and Ortega are known to have a very similar dry sense of humor. In an equally deadpan tone, Ortega responds, “I know. We have nothing in common.”

The comedy bit goes on with Plaza telling Ortega, “We should find the people who did this…” Ortega continues her thought, “…And curse their families and watch as…”

Then, Plaza joins in to finish the sentence in unison with Ortega: “…misfortune follows their bloodline for the next seven generations.”

Plaza then realizes why the two actresses were paired together. “OK, I see it now,” she says. The camera cuts to the audience where fellow actors and SAG nominees Adam Sandler (Hustle) and Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) are seen laughing at the skit.

This led to Netflix themselves wondering what it would be like if Plaza joined Ortega in season 2 of the hit series Wednesday.

Fans followed that sentiment and said things like, “JENNA ORTEGA AND AUBREY PLAZA SHOULD WORK TOGETHER AND HAVE THEIR OWN SHOW.”

Plaza also had plenty to be happy about later that evening when she and the rest of the cast of The White Lotus won a SAG Award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series.
