Despite Jenna Ortega not winning the Golden Globe at the 2023 ceremony, she had people talking about Netflix’s Wednesday.
On the red carpet before the Golden Globes, Variety asked Ortega about Lady Gaga imitating the dance she made famous during the fourth episode of her Netflix series.
Although Ortega performs the iconic dance to The Cramps’ 1981 song, “Goo Goo Muck,” when the dance went viral online, many users on social media replaced the song with Lady Gaga’s 2011 banger “Bloody Mary.” Lady Gaga also used her own song for her version of the dance.
Ortega told Variety a story about the singer sending her a video years ago. Both her and Lady Gaga shared the same hairdresser. “She made me a video saying, ‘Oh, hey, Jenna. I hear you’re a fan.’ It was a really, really sweet video. I doubt she has any idea who I was back then.”
Ortega added: “To see her do that [dance] now, it was kind of one of those moments where you acknowledge [that] life changes really, really fast, and it’s really crazy.”
Variety suggested that although Ortega and Lady Gaga have not spoken about the dance, Mother Monster should make an appearance on Wednesday, which was recently greenlit for a second season.
“I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega said.
So, who might Lady Gaga play in the series? Jenna Ortega wasn’t sure, but did say, “If Lady Gaga were to be a part [of the second season], [her character and Wednesday] would have to be two monsters who understand each other.”
Plus, writers would also have to include a dance choreographed for two.
