Who knew the leaders from Wakanda and Talokan had so much rhythm? Actors Tenoch Huerta and Lupita Nyong’o recently showed off their best dance moves during the Mexico City premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
While sitting on stage with the entire cast, Huerta and Nyong’o stood up in front of the crowd and started dancing to Elvis Crespo’s 1999 hit “Suavemente.” Huerta was dressed in a blue suit, while Nyong’o removed her puffy red jacket to show off her fitted black dress. Huerta managed to spin Nyong’o a couple of times during their dance.
The crowd cheered enthusiastically when the duo swayed and bent low to get as close to the floor as possible. After about 45 seconds of dancing, the song ended, and Huerta and Nyong’o took a well-deserved bow.
Unfortunately, there are no dance scenes in Wakanda Forever. We’re not even sure if Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, could pull off those moves underwater, but we wouldn’t bet against him.
In the film, Namor is the leader of a Mesoamerican kingdom known as Talokan and Nakia is a former Wakandan spy who gets tangled in the conflict between Wakanda and Talokan.
In its review, Remezcla called Wakanda Forever “a balm to the very soul that puts Black healing front and center, while also inviting Latine people to the stage, so we can all move forward in this journey towards meaningful representation.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premieres at theaters nationwide on November 11, 2022.
