What We Do in the Shadows is gearing up for its fifth season on FX, and the first trailer will likely have fans excited about what’s next for their favorite vampires from Staten Island.

Based on the 2014 feature film of the same name by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, the mockumentary comedy-horror series follows vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world with help from their human familiar, Guillermo de la Cruz (Harvey Guillén), and an envoy of the Vampiric Council known as The Guide (Kristen Schaal).

FX’s logline reads: “In season five, Nandor feels his familiar (and sometimes friend) Guillermo slipping away as he seems to be spending much more time with Laszlo, whose skills as a gentleman scientist are put to the test as he tries to solve the mystery of the strange and very secret changes Guillermo is going through.”

The season also follows Nadja as she reconnects with a family from the Old Country while suffering from “a previously-undiagnosed supernatural l hex” and Colin as he campaigns for political office.

At the start of the trailer, Guillermo pays a vampire to turn him. He’s disappointed when he doesn’t automatically transform into a bat. We also watch Laszlo visit a shopping mall where he thinks a bikini store is a front for a brothel. Nadja is also seen on a blind date, but things are going very well. “How do you feel about taking the virginity of a dead girl?” she asks.

Season five of What We Do in the Shadows premieres on July 13 at 10 pm ET on FX and streams on Hulu.
