Actor Keanu Reeves will apparently be reprising his role as former hitman John Wick in the John Wick spinoff movie Ballerina starring Ana de Armas.
According to Collider, Reeves is currently in the Czech Republic capital city of Prague where Ballerina is in production. It is unknown if Reeves’ role will be a cameo or if his character has a bigger function in the film.
Earlier this year, Lionsgate confirmed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that de Armas would take on the lead role in Ballerina. The character, an assassin who is set to avenge the murder of her family, was previously played by real-life ballet dancer Unity Phelan in the 2019 sequel John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Filmmaker Len Wiseman (Underworld) will direct the film from a screenplay by Shay Hatten (Parabellum).
It was recently revealed that actor Ian McShane will also return to play Winston in the Ballerina spinoff. Winston is the manager of New York City’s Continental Hotel, which caters to underworld criminals. The venue will serve as a future prequel called The Continental about the early years of Winston’s life. Then, of course, John Wick: Chapter 4 will premiere at theaters in March 2023. There is also a fifth John Wick film in development.
De Armas has had a busy 2022. It started in March with the release of the Hulu erotic psychological thriller Deep Water, which co-starred Ben Affleck. Then, during the summer, de Armas starred in The Gray Man as a CIA agent opposite Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. In September, she portrayed screen legend, Marilyn Monroe, in the Netflix film Blonde.
