Some of those words feel like they shouldn’t go together. SweeTARTS and Film Festival and then Tik Tok too? But it is 2022, and yes, there is a SweeTARTS Film Festival. Yes, it is on Tik Tok. And Xochitl Gomez is not just hosting it but judging as well. Sounds like a sweet, sweet treat, pun intended.
The festival kicks off Friday, August 12th and invites all content creators on TikTok to participate for the chance to win 25,000, not a bad prize for something a lot of content creators started doing for free and because they enjoyed it. The idea behind it is to reimagine exclusive festival concepts to spotlight everyday creators.
“Filmmaking is my passion; both in front of and now also behind the camera. Storytelling has held a special place in my heart for as far back as I can remember, and nothing goes together better than candy and movies,” Gomez said. “TikTok has made it easier than ever for myself and other storytellers to share our video content with the world, and I’m thrilled to join forces with SweeTARTS in hosting a brand new celebration of modern-day creators!”
The categories for the festival are: Best Expression of Be Both, Best “Story Time,” Best Use of Video Tools, and Best Colorful Creation, with every challenge lasting one week.
Gomez will also be hosting a grand finale live stream for the SweeTARTS Film Fest only on her TikTok channel on October 6 at 7:00 p.m. ET, where she will announce the four winners of the film fest.
